CadMapper is one of the best tools on the market when it comes to finding the right topography, terrain and 3D buildings for your site. It contains data from OpenStreetMap, NASA, and USGS sources and it allows you to export up to 1 km2 for free. This includes any location on Earth as long as there is some relevant data in the system.

The best part about Cadmapper is that it can export maps directly in 3dm Rhino format, so you don’t need to convert anything. There are also exports available for AutoCad, Illustrator and Sketchup. In this tutorial, you are going to get familiar with Cadmapper and how to quickly get the model in Rhino.

We are also going to cover a couple of tips and tricks on how to optimize the model, how to adjust the layers, create visual styles and how to export the final illustration image for printing.
